Benefits & Notes:  Commercial mustard is terrible for the challenge, hence this healthy recipe. Alternatively, we suggested recommended commercial mustard in the shopping list. Mustard powder, on its own and not just in a sauce, is healthy and tasty condiment.

Ingredients
  • 6 tablespoons mustard seeds (50 grams)
  • 1/2 cup mustard powder (50 grams)
  • 1/2 cup of clean water
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar from cider white wine
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • (for health) 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric.
  • (optional and to taste) paprika, crushed garlic
Directions
  1. Grind the mustard seeds in a spice grinder or by hand with a mortar and
    pestle.
  2. Pour the semi-ground seeds into a bowl and add the salt and mustard
powder. Add turmeric and all condiments.
  3. Pour in the water and stir well. When you have a uniform mixture, let this
sit for up to 10 minutes. The longer you let it sit, the mellower taste the
    mustard will have.
  4. Pour in the vinegar and stir.
  5. Pour the mixture into a glass jar and store in the fridge for one day for thickening for at least 12 hours.
  6. Store sealed in the fridge. It can last for 6 months like this.
