As we’re coming close to the end of the challenge, you might think: this is it?
What’s the next level?
Very good! That’s the right question.
Healthy Lifestyle as a Game
A healthy lifestyle is like a candy crush.
A never-ending game. With, of course, endless candies to eliminate in the way.
Our bodies and health are so complex that there is always another level.
And each level will give more results, happiness, and well-being.
It would seem I’m condescending here:
Since I’m probably ahead of you in that game, I can tell you, the compensation of the next levels is far better than you imagine.
What you feel, and the impact on your life is tremendous.
But how do you progress in the game?
Go “Deep” in Your Education
Most of us know a thing or two about most subjects in health, nutrition, exercise, weight loss, and supplements.
Most of us heard one or two podcasts about things we find interesting in health. Maybe we read an article or even an entire book about it. Maybe we tried a diet. That’s great, and you can call yourself educated in those areas.
The problem is when we assume that we know it. That we “got” it. The moment you stop going deeper is the moment that you stop achieving results.
To progress in the game of healthy lifestyle, go deep into your education. One book, podcast, or article could never be enough.
The next level of health education will always give you more benefits, compensation, and fulfillment than the previous one.
Surface Information
Ho, you’re going to hate me, but here’s how to do it wrong.
General health advice is what you’ll find in Facebook posts, in health portals, and in the general news.
These provide surface sound-bite information about health, nutrition, exercise, weight loss, supplements.
This information comes from “unfocused” sources.
Unfocused source means it isn’t a specific researcher that made a deep dive into health research and achieve personal results. Instead, it’s a rotating employee of the news outlet or just “hot” news.
“General health advice” keeps you shallow in your education. The purpose of those articles and video tips is to grab other people’s attention and creating controversy.
Controversy and Self Discipline
Sometimes, you need pigheaded discipline to succeed in the game of health. Confusion makes it difficult to use self-discipline.
But to create interest, most general health news will have to create controversy. To tell you everything we know it’s not true. It creates surprise. It explains why nutrition is confusing.
The solution is avoiding surface information and “general” health advice.
What should you do instead?
Become a Student of Health
You don’t have to be an expert in health, but we shall all be students.
After I lost my health at a young age, I decided to take “health” seriously.
And each year, after 16 years, I continue to reach more breakthroughs.
And because I have seen the levels ahead of you, I can tell you: going deeper is where the big reward lies.
Being an Effective Follower
One of the best ways to apply the strategy of going deeper is becoming an effective follower. You do this by finding 2-3 guides that you feel connected with. They need to have the result that you want.
It’s not just the knowledge they have. They have the “energy” of what it feels like and look like to achieve what you want.
There’s a big difference between having academic knowledge in an area with no personal results, to actually representing the result that you want.
It’s like go for couples therapy from a psychologist who has great relationship with their spouse (represent the end result that you and your spouse want) and a psychologist with a failed or no relationship.
The energy is different, and so the mindset and attitudes.
Focus On Just 2-3 Guides
So find the right guides. How many?
Focus on these 2-3 guides and copy from them their results.
Too many sources and guides are confusing and distracting. This way, you will keep your education focused.
Then, think about what you’ve learned, and apply it.
Your Unexpected Success
Before we leave, did you notice that in Candy Crush, there’s a celebration every step of the way?
If so… so why is it we judge ourselves on minor mistakes but with success, we only celebrating the “big” result?
Seems a bit unfair to ourselves, doesn’t it?
Let’s stop that!
Every tiny success is worth an acknowledgment. Not just progressing to a new level!
This is what you’ve done so far in the challenge.
It’s time to check with yourself. What did you think you couldn’t and did anyway?
Which small successes have you had in this challenge?
Those small wins are important.
Celebrate every step.
